Are you curious? And an organised thinker? And enjoy working with others? Are you keen to develop your skills within a dynamic public policy environment and play a key role in working to protect and promote the health and safety of the public?
If so, we want to hear from you. This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the General Medical Council – one of the largest healthcare regulators within the UK - helping us play our part in improving UK health care post-pandemic. The GMC is an inclusive, supportive and caring organisation and you will be joining the Strategy team to help shape current and future priorities. We are a small and friendly team and look forward to welcoming your skills, experience and perspective and continuing to learn and develop together.
You are likely to be a recent graduate or postgraduate with a passion for applying structured and critical thinking to challenging issues.
You will help us implement our corporate strategy for 2021-2025, working closely with teams across GMC to ensure we are an effective, relevant and compassionate regulator for patients, the public and professionals, and as an employer. This will include developing briefings on key topics in healthcare; research and analysis to inform the GMC’s position on a diverse range of issues, for example, medical workforce planning; supporting and facilitating discussions with colleagues.
You will need to be comfortable working with senior staff and in an environment where there are often no ‘off the shelf’ answers. You will require enthusiasm, flexibility and initiative, and the ability to work well with others. The work is interesting and varied, but you must also be happy to muck in with the boring bits.
Knowledge of current healthcare policy issues would be advantageous. But more importantly, we expect a commitment to the values of an organisation that is focused on patient protection.
In return, you’ll benefit from being part of an organisation that is genuinely committed to its people. Within our friendly environment, you will have access to a range of learning and development opportunities designed to support your ongoing progression. We offer an attractive salary and benefits package, to find out more please click here
Initially you may be home based while we implement a safe return to our offices. At that point, your main office will either be in central Manchester or London.
The GMC is happy to support a range of flexible working options. Flexible working requests will be considered in line with the policy.
The GMC values diversity and has made a public commitment to processes and procedures that are fair, objective, transparent and free from discrimination.
We strongly believe that diversity of background and experience contributes to a broader collective perspective that will consistently lead to us being a better regulator. We are working hard to increase the diversity of our staff, and also the diversity of those we work with wherever we can and we would actively encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds to apply.
