Marketing Officer - Welcome to UK Practice (18 month FTC)

About the General Medical Council

We are the regulator for doctors in the UK. We help to protect patients and improve medical education and practice in the UK by setting standards for students and doctors. We support them in achieving (and exceeding) those standards and take action when they are not met.

About the Welcome to UK practice project

This role is an exciting opportunity to work on a corporate priority project, expanding take up of one of our flagship workshops for doctors - Welcome to UK practice. The workshop is designed to support doctors who have qualified abroad and are in their first year of practising medicine in the UK. Adapting to UK medical practice can be hard, regardless of where a doctor’s from, or how experienced they are. There can be significant differences in practising medicine in their home country and the UK, and it can be difficult to adjust to working in a new culture. 

Our free workshop helps by offering practical guidance about ethical scenarios they may encounter and offers the chance to connect with other doctors coming to work here from abroad. We want to increase attendance at Welcome to UK practice, and this role will be at the forefront of developing and piloting innovative ways to promote and deliver the workshop to better serve doctors and, ultimately, their patients.

About the role

As a Marketing Officer in the team, you will bring your creativity to this varied and fast-paced role marketing Welcome to UK practice workshops to audiences. You’ll work with the team to deliver on innovative marketing plans based on insight and evidence of what works with our audiences, using a variety of channels with a digital first approach - including our website, social media, e-bulletins, digital advertising, publications and events. If you have a track record in using audience insight to devise marketing communications that deliver results, we want to hear from you.

You need to be a great team player and have the experience and skills to market our workshops effectively. You understand what works on different channels to reach diverse, busy audiences, and you’ll create engaging and accessible user-centred content to achieve objectives. You’ll track and evaluate marketing performance as a key member of the organisation-wide Welcome to UK practice and Marketing Communications teams.
