If you can answer ‘Yes’ we want you to apply to join our IS Team at the General Medical Council (GMC) as an Infrastructure Engineer based in Manchester. The role will focus primarily on BAU support activities and transitioning projects into operations. You’ll have a role that offers the chance to work with an excellent team, enhance a huge variety of different systems and the opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills.
We are the independent regulator for doctors in the UK, it’s our job to protect, promote and maintain the health and safety of the public by ensuring proper standards in the practice of medicine. This means you’ll be part of an extremely professional IS team that has pride and purpose.
You’ll have the opportunity to shape and improve the systems already in place by working with technologies that maintain pace with emerging business and industry requirements. Working with products from VMware, Microsoft and Cisco you and your colleagues will continually enhance and support our systems in a busy and focussed environment.
This will involve:
- Working with technical colleagues to offer an exceptional 3rd line support service
- Working with project and technical architects to design, build, implement and transition new solutions into BAU as part of our annual work programme
- Providing specialist technical support and management to a highly available infrastructure as required
