Senior Strategy Adviser (GMC3399)

Senior Strategy Adviser

Do you enjoy considering the bigger picture and considering your organisation’s role within that? Are you a good team player? Are you keen to work within a dynamic public policy environment and play a key role in working to protect and promote the health and safety of the public?

If so, we want to hear from you.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the General Medical Council, in the Strategy team, helping shape our approach to future regulation. There is also flexibility on where the successful candidate will be based; either at our main office in central Manchester, or one of our other offices in Belfast, Cardiff, London or Edinburgh.

You are likely to have experience in public policy, regulation, consultancy or as an analyst, and a passion for applying structured and critical thinking to challenging issues.

You will help us shape and deliver the GMC’s next corporate strategy for 2021-25, working closely with teams across GMC and with regulatory partners. The next corporate strategy will look to ensure our approach is forward-thinking; supports doctors and healthcare professionals from education to registration to ongoing practice; and that GMC’s efforts are focused proportionately – taking into account the evidence base, customer needs and to meet different needs across the UK.

You will need to be comfortable working with senior staff and in an environment where there are often no ‘off the shelf’ answers. You will require enthusiasm, flexibility and initiative, and the ability to work well with others.

Knowledge of current healthcare policy issues would be advantageous. But more importantly, we expect a commitment to the values of our organisation – integrity, collaboration, fairness and transparency; and commitment to work focused on protecting, promoting and maintaining the health, safety and wellbeing of the public by supporting medical professionals.

This role is the opportunity to work within one of the largest healthcare regulators within the UK, shaping change within healthcare. In return, you’ll benefit from being part of an organisation that is genuinely committed to its people. We offer an attractive salary and benefits package to find out more please click here https://jobs.gmc-uk.org/why-join-us.html

Join our friendly and supportive team and you’ll enjoy working on a variety of exciting projects and a meaningful career in a fast-paced environment. With you, there will be seven of us in the Strategy team in 2020 and we look forward to expanding our experience and expertise with your arrival, and continuing to learn and improve.

We strongly believe that diversity of background and experience contributes to the broader collective perspective that will consistently lead to us being a better regulator. We are working hard to increase the diversity of our staff, and also the diversity of those we work with wherever we can and we would actively encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds to apply.

This role will require regular presence in London
