Cyber Security Analyst (GMC3313)

Cyber Security Analyst

Do you have wide-ranging technical IT experience and strong analytical skills? Are you looking to move into the rapidly evolving field of compliance and cyber security or already have a cyber security background? Then this is an exciting opportunity to grow your skills and enjoy great training and clear career progression with an innovative team.

The General Medical Council (GMC) helps to protect patients and improve medical education and practice in the UK by setting standards for students and doctors. We support them in achieving (and exceeding) those standards, and take action when they are not met.

As a Cyber Security Analyst at The GMC, you’ll support the management of cyber security, ISO 27001 and PCI compliance in various ways here. Working closely with our Cyber Security Manager, you’ll help to assess existing and potential suppliers to make sure their IT security arrangements meet our needs. Offering plenty of variety, this role also involves helping to develop new systems and processes, working with a range of colleagues to make changes and improvements.

Your excellent analytical and IT skills will enable you to produce management reports about our different information security technical controls. You’ll also need to be able to help raise security awareness through staff phishing exercises and support Information Security (IS) audits and risk assessments. Ideally, your experience of working with auditors and IS and Cyber Security colleagues in an IT role will have given you a good knowledge of security technologies and their application. Although we’ll provide training to help you get up-to-speed with our systems.

Cyber security is a fascinating area. We’re looking for someone with a real flair for IT who will bring real passion and enthusiasm to the team along with a proactive approach and keen attention to detail. Proven working experience using Microsoft Excel to perform complex data analysis is essential for this role.
