Accounts Payable Assistant (GMC3238)

Accounts Payable Assistant

An excellent early step in your finance career. Supporting invoice processing at an organisation with an impact on the whole nation’s health, you will develop new knowledge and skills.

The General Medical Council (GMC) helps to protect patients and improve medical education and practice in the UK by setting standards for students and doctors. We support them in achieving (and exceeding) those standards, and take action when they are not met.

As an Accounts Payable Assistant, you will help to process purchase ledger invoices. You will learn to register invoices on our finance system in a timely way, and to deal with all aspects of invoice administration - from accounting for VAT, to reconciling supplier statements. Crucially, you’ll also learn to deal with queries, both by phone and in writing. Your responsibilities will regularly bring you into contact with a range of people, as you ensure invoices are distributed for authorisation, and take care to follow up registered invoices so that monies are received on time.

Ideally, you will have or be working towards a finance related qualification. You will certainly bring to the role good IT and keyboard skills, including the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. An appreciation of confidentiality and the importance of following procedures is vital. We will expect you to demonstrate a highly organised approach, with the ability to prioritise a number of different tasks to ensure each deadline is met. You’re also comfortable adapting to change. Good communication and relationship building skills will really set you apart.

In return, you’ll benefit from being part of an organisation that is genuinely committed to its people. We offer an attractive salary and benefits package.

The GMC values diversity and has made a public commitment to processes and procedures that are fair, objective, transparent and free from discrimination.

The GMC is a charity registered in England and Wales (1089278) and Scotland (SC037750).
