Working with doctors, working for patients

Revalidation Adviser

The General Medical Council (GMC) helps to protect patients and improve medical education and practice in the UK by setting standards for students and doctors. We support them in achieving (and exceeding) those standards, and take action when they are not met.

Doctors must regularly show us that they’re giving good care to patients and keeping up to date – through a process called revalidation. This is how doctors keep their licence to work in the UK. The Revalidation Team support and manage all areas of the revalidation process at the GMC ensuring a timely and excellent service.  The Revalidation Team is based in Manchester city centre.

The Revalidation Adviser works as part of the Revalidation Team dealing with all areas of Revalidation for doctors in line with the GMC’s guidelines and legislation. You will be responsible for ensuring activities are processed in accordance with guidance so that key performance indicators and service level agreements are met. The Revalidation Adviser also provides advice and support to a range of customers ensuring a timely and excellent service.

You will need to demonstrate excellent organisational skills and competence in the use of IT including the Microsoft Office suite. The post holder will need strong administration skills with the ability to manage and progress casework and to work within defined standards and performance targets. We’re looking for a real team player with a commitment to customer service, the ability to communicate effectively and empathically with everyone from doctors, colleagues to senior staff.

In return you’ll benefit from being part of an organisation that is genuinely committed to its people.  We offer an attractive salary and benefits package including the opportunity to work flexibly and from home one day a week for most roles, as well as a generous annual leave allowance (with the option to buy or sell leave), a defined contribution pension scheme, medical insurance, health screens, interest free ticket loan and exclusive discounts.  Tax saving schemes enable you to reduce the cost of childcare through our childcare voucher scheme and the cost of buying a bike through our cycle to work scheme.

The GMC values diversity and has made a public commitment to processes and procedures that are fair, objective, transparent and free from discrimination.
