Regional Liaison Adviser – North Central & East London – 2 year possible secondment opportunity, however this is dependant on the support of your current employer or fixed term contract - £40,761 to £55,139 with an exceptional maximum of £61,906 (equivalent to NHS band 8 a-c)

If you can answer yes to all of these then keep reading as you may well be a natural choice for one of these exciting roles with the General Medical Council’s (GMC) Regional Liaison Service.

We are looking for new colleagues to join our expanding service on a secondment or fixed term contract basis. We are a home based team working across 14 regions in England. We are really keen to hear from professionals working in health care or in health care regulation who want to broaden their understanding of the GMCs work and help us understand your environment as well. 

Working from home, with extensive travel, applicants must live in the area advertised. You'll work in hospitals, GP surgeries, medical schools and communities in partnership with the medical profession, employers, health care regulators and patients to support doctors and medical educators in their practise in the interests of patients and the wider healthcare system.  

Additionally you will:

  • Promote understanding of the role and value of the GMCs work with medical students, doctors, patients, employers and other health regulators
  • Support high professional standards in medical education, training and practice by identifying concerns about patient safety and the quality of training doctors are receiving and collaborate with others to drive improvement
  • Deepen the GMC’s understanding of the issues affecting doctors, employers, medical students and patients so that our work is informed by and responsive to these challenges
  • Develop training interventions to support high standards of professional practise.

The successful candidate will have strong relationship management and partnership working skills. Additionally they will have an analytical and problem solving approach to work. Using data, intelligence and networking they will be able to quickly build a picture of the quality of care and medical education delivered across their region and identify those in the external healthcare environment best placed to help improve the situation.

They will care deeply about supporting doctors to maintain the standards we expect of them. They will be open and empathetic to the current challenges of practicing medicine in the UK and be capable of providing guidance and direction to doctors, students and educators about ethical issues and patient safety concerns.

They will be an excellent educator or facilitator with a clear, engaging and dynamic communication style and a proven ability to translate complex information into engaging content in a range of settings and across multiple audiences as well as the ability to handle challenge and answer complex queries.

There are four separate roles currently being advertised, whilst start dates for these posts  may vary applicants must be available for core induction training between Monday 4th February and Friday 15th March 2019 when all four posts will be inducted together.
