Project managing, drafting and editing a range of reports, you will be instrumental to the development of policy, education work and standards.

The General Medical Council (GMC) helps to protect patients and improve medical education and practice in the UK by setting standards for students and doctors. We support them in achieving (and exceeding) those standards, and take action when they are not met.

Your work will help to shape the future of medical education and associated standards for the nation. We will look to you to draft and edit high quality reports, and to project manage the production of major evidence-based narratives, including our annual national training survey report. Your remit will span education and standards, with an influence on policy, so we’ll expect you to collaborate with a host of teams. These will include specialists in areas ranging from surveys, evidence and quality assurance, through to standards, policy, strategy and communication.

To be equal to the challenge, you’ll need excellent project management skills together with a keen understanding of policy development in a regulatory context. Naturally, you demonstrate a flair for writing compelling, persuasive long-form reports in a corporate style. Familiar with social research methods and statistical methodologies, you are adept at using a range of evidence and analysis to support your arguments. In person, your communication skills are equally impressive. You’ll bring to the role a real talent for building relationships, persuading and influencing.

In return, you’ll benefit from being part of an organisation that is genuinely committed to its people. We offer an attractive salary and benefits package.

The GMC values diversity and has made a public commitment to processes and procedures that are fair, objective, transparent and free from discrimination. The GMC is a charity registered in England and Wales (1089278) and Scotland (SC037750).
