Working with doctors, working for patients

Senior Developer

From coding to testing and beyond, this is an excellent opportunity to shape great online resources and experiences, for an organisation that helps to keep patients safe nationwide.

The General Medical Council (GMC) helps to protect patients and improve medical education and practice in the UK by setting standards for students and doctors. We support them in achieving (and exceeding) those standards, and take action when they are not met.

You will be an essential member within a team of full stack developers working on a number of important integration projects and will be a highly productive self-starter. Our goal is to deliver high quality digital experiences and provide excellent internal systems - and you will be instrumental to making that happen.

Bringing a blend of self-motivation and collaborative spirit to the project, you’ll enjoy a wide-ranging impact. This will span everything from upholding our standards of coding and testing, through to championing investment in automation for rapid changes and releases. Contributing to both Agile and Waterfall developments, you’ll work closely with Business Analysts and Technical Architects to establish solutions that really meet users’ needs.

To be equal to the challenge, you’ll need proven experience and understanding of Agile (particularly Scrum) development methodologies and practices. You’ll demonstrate a wealth of expertise across .Net, C#, Visual Studio, Unit Testing, WebAPI, RESTful, SOAP, WCF, Oracle DB and SQL Server. Your experience includes work on middleware and integration applications, ideally linking in to Enterprise Systems’ APIs and databases. Your excellent relationship building skills and flair for presenting complex information to different audiences really set you apart.

In return you’ll benefit from being part of an organisation that is genuinely committed to its people.  We offer an attractive salary and benefits package including the opportunity to work flexibly and from home one day a week for most roles, as well as a generous annual leave allowance (with the option to buy or sell leave), a defined contribution pension scheme, private medical insurance, health screens, interest free ticket loan and exclusive discounts.  Tax saving schemes enable you to reduce the cost of childcare through our childcare voucher scheme and the cost of buying a bike through our cycle to work scheme.
