The GMC’s Regulation Policy Team (RPT) is seeking a policy manager to play a key role in the development of our work in medical regulation.

The GMC is the UK's independent medical regulator. We work to protect and promote the health and safety of the public by ensuring proper standards in the practice of medicine and high quality medical education and training. The RPT is a small, highly motivated, policy team that leads the development of the GMC’s strategic and policy thinking across a range of key projects.

As regulation policy manager, you will manage a portfolio of projects to support the development and delivery of cross organisational strategy and policy. This could include areas such as: legislation and regulatory reform; management of reviews, public inquiries and consultations; and health service policy and reforms. You will also be required to provide expert policy briefings and presentations for key internal audiences (including Chief Executive, Council members and our governance boards) and external stakeholders.

To be a success in this role you will need a good understanding of policy research, analysis and development and the ability to manage multiple projects. You will be comfortable working with and advising senior staff and stakeholders on policy and strategy development, and will use your well-developed influencing skills to quickly establish credibility with those you work with. Excellent communication and organisational skills are also a must, as are strong problem solving skills and an aptitude for innovation.

Above all, we expect a commitment to the values of an organisation that is focused on patient safety.

In return, you’ll benefit from being part of an organisation that is genuinely committed to its people. We offer an attractive salary and benefits package.

The GMC values diversity and has made a public commitment to processes and procedures that are fair, objective, transparent and free from discrimination. The GMC is a charity registered in England and Wales (1089278) and Scotland (SC037750).
