Working with doctors, working for patients

Project & Communications Officer - fixed term contract until September 2018

Supporting a portfolio of projects and communication initiatives, you’ll be instrumental to the strategic success of the General Medical Council (GMC). The GMC helps to protect patients and improve medical education and practice in the UK by setting standards for students and doctors.

Working closely with both policy and operational teams, you’ll be instrumental to the successful delivery of strategic projects within our Registration and Revalidation directorate. This will include leading the delivery of assigned projects and tasks. It is a responsibility that will call on every aspect of your skills - from project planning and monitoring, to risk analysis and contingency planning, to the production of board papers and project documentation. Crucially, you’ll also take the lead on communications for your projects.

To join us, you’ll need proven experience of leading or supporting projects. You’ll certainly bring to the role demonstrable skills in information gathering and analysis. We will also expect you to be a talented communicator, with excellent relationship building, persuading and influencing skills. Experience of facilitating change, and working with multiple groups to implement new ways of working, will be key to your success.

In return, we offer an attractive salary and benefits package.

The GMC values diversity and has made a public commitment to processes and procedures that are fair, objective, transparent and free from discrimination. The GMC is a charity registered in England and Wales (1089278) and Scotland (SC037750).
