Policy Officer

Policy Officer – Registration and Revalidation

Do you have experience of policy development and support within a legal framework? If so, we’ve got the ideal opportunity for you at the General Medical Council (GMC)

The GMC is the UK's independent medical regulator. We work to protect and promote the health and safety of the public by ensuring proper standards in the practice of medicine and high quality medical education and training. The GMC’s Policy and Regulatory Development Team is seeking a policy officer to contribute to the development of policies underpinning our registration and revalidation functions. You’ll be part of a team based in both Manchester and London; and will support policy managers to deliver a portfolio of policy development projects across our registration and revalidation framework.

We’ll expect you to quickly acquire knowledge of our registration and revalidation policies and the GMC’s wider remit. You’ll need to be comfortable working with and presenting to senior staff in an environment where there are often no ‘off the shelf’ answers. You will require enthusiasm, flexibility and initiative, and the ability to work well with others. You’ll need excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills, and aptitude for solving problems. Above all, we expect a commitment to the values of an organisation that is focused on patient safety.

In return, you’ll benefit from being part of an organisation that is genuinely committed to its people. We offer an attractive salary and benefits package.
